Word Hunt
Trace words through neighboring letters.
What is Word Hunt?
Word Hunt asks you to find words hidden in a letter grid. You can use a four-by-four or five-by-five grid. Each word follows neighboring squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, and the same square cannot be reused inside one word.
How to play
- Tap neighboring letters in order, drag across them, or type a word using the keyboard.
- Make words of at least three letters.
- Press Submit. A typed word counts only if a valid path exists on the current grid.
- Find as many distinct words as you can before the two-minute timer ends.
Scoring and strategy
Three-letter words score one point, four-letter words score two, five-letter words score three, six-letter words score five, seven-letter words score eight, and longer words score eleven. Scan for common endings, then check whether their starting letters connect. Longer words are valuable, but short words can build your score quickly.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a square twice?
No. A path may visit each square once. A word with a repeated letter needs two separate squares carrying that letter.
Do diagonal steps count?
Yes. Each next square can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal to the previous one.
Can I type instead of dragging?
Yes. Type a word and submit it. The game checks that a matching path can be traced on the board.
